hello. my name is kaite. I'm a
texas girl living in savannah, georgia with my husband, lee, our 6 cats, anitolli, coal train, cous cous, fritz, gniles, and
jezebel; our 2 dogs, pandora and princess; 2 chickens, tulip julep, the tiny banty that lays tiny peach eggs, and bisquit,
the overwhelmingly large auracana, that lays large blue eggs and bears an unfortunately striking resemblance to some sort
of bird of prey.
we have fish, too.
We live in an old, run-down, absurdly large 1920s duplex that requires our constant
attention and all of our money. and like parents of an only child, we spoil it. we lived in it for awhile as a
single family house, but it was a vast expanse that we repeatedly got lost in and couldn't ever hear each other asking where
tools were. so we took in some roomies. they live in the upstairs and don't make too much noise. we live
in the downstairs, where we have yet to complete the restoration.
i.e. I can see the outside through the holes in the kitchen floor and we
have just recently moved the clawfoot bathtub inside from its previous home on the back porch where we bathed with cold water
from the hose.
things have improved, however.
no longer do I wash our clothes and bedsheets in a 1946 maytag that's sole function
is swishing clothes back and forth all the while making a terrible KEH-CHUNG KAH-CHUNG racket as I fill and drain and fill
and drain by hand, and then humming along while ringing the sopping laundry out. no sirree...i finally went out
and bought myself a lovely, bright, shiny, white, stacked washer/dryer that whisks away dirt and filth at the mere touch of
a button.
and after 2 weeks of flaky plumbers and electricians that wouldn't show up, we
have hot water again.
and after spending an entire east coast winter in a (previous) 102 year old house,
with no insulation, no heat, and holes in the floor that never allowed what little heat our 1930s fire monster furnace desperately
tried to churn out, to remain inside,
we now have central air and heat.
and i very much love this life.
but after 2 years of persuading my husband to move half way across the country
and buy a house we knew very little about, restoring that house and now attempting to complete this one...
I want to go back to texas.
Anyway,
so i thought i'd keep a little journal, a peephole of sorts, of my
life and those around me. and isn't it nice of me to post it here for all the world to read.
Watch out, though...
I talk trash and don't really care if I offend people.
If you don't like vulgarity in any form,
You should piss off now.
otherwise, come right on in and make yerself at home in my little
pink world.
