party.jpg

as of june 28, we threw a 25th birthday party for the twins, and i've been doing some, ahem, job 'research'.  in otherwords, i'm currently unemployed and, for the most part, enjoying it.  my mum came into town a few days ago and we went thrifting...which means there's some good stuff on ebay right now.

sign the guest book.

welcome to my little pink world.

* disclaimer*
i'm somewhat of a lame-o, especially when it comes to html/website bullshit.  please forgive the lack of anything more personal than this template-produced site and any weirdness such as the *edit* bits that i have accidentally cut and pasted into unfortunate permanance on some pages.  don't even bother emailing me with suggestions or html tips; i won't understand them or am too lazy to care.  thank you, my leetle dearies!

hello.  my name is kaite.  I'm a texas girl living in savannah, georgia with my husband, lee, our 6 cats, anitolli, coal train, cous cous, fritz, gniles, and jezebel; our 2 dogs, pandora and princess; 2 chickens, tulip julep, the tiny banty that lays tiny peach eggs, and bisquit, the overwhelmingly large auracana, that lays large blue eggs and bears an unfortunately striking resemblance to some sort of bird of prey.
we have fish, too.

We live in an old, run-down, absurdly large 1920s duplex that requires our constant attention and all of our money.  and like parents of an only child, we spoil it.  we lived in it for awhile as a single family house, but it was a vast expanse that we repeatedly got lost in and couldn't ever hear each other asking where tools were.  so we took in some roomies.  they live in the upstairs and don't make too much noise.  we live in the downstairs, where we have yet to complete the restoration.

i.e.  I can see the outside through the holes in the kitchen floor and we have just recently moved the clawfoot bathtub inside from its previous home on the back porch where we bathed with cold water from the hose.

things have improved, however.

no longer do I wash our clothes and bedsheets in a 1946 maytag that's sole function is swishing clothes back and forth all the while making a terrible KEH-CHUNG KAH-CHUNG racket as I fill and drain and fill and drain by hand, and then humming along while ringing the sopping laundry out.  no sirree...i finally went out and bought myself a lovely, bright, shiny, white, stacked washer/dryer that whisks away dirt and filth at the mere touch of a button.

and after 2 weeks of flaky plumbers and electricians that wouldn't show up, we have hot water again.

and after spending an entire east coast winter in a (previous) 102 year old house, with no insulation, no heat, and holes in the floor that never allowed what little heat our 1930s fire monster furnace desperately tried to churn out, to remain inside,

we now have central air and heat.

and i very much love this life.

but after 2 years of persuading my husband to move half way across the country and buy a house we knew very little about, restoring that house and now attempting to complete this one...
I want to go back to texas.

Anyway,

so i thought i'd keep a little journal, a peephole of sorts, of my life and those around me.  and isn't it nice of me to post it here for all the world to read.

Watch out, though...

I talk trash and don't really care if I offend people.  If you don't like vulgarity in any form,

You should piss off now.

otherwise, come right on in and make yerself at home in my little pink world.

YAY US!

robert deniro says in the beginning of *taxi driver*, "I gotta get in shape now. Too much sittin' is ruinin' my body. Too much abuse has gone on for too long. From now on, it will be fifty push-ups each morning, fifty pull-ups.  There'll be no more pills, there'll be no more bad food, no more destroyers of my body. From now on, it will be total organization. Every muscle must be tight."

I don't drink and I don't use drugs.  I eat only vegetables and candy, sometimes I eat seafood.

I really really really love old pink stuff.  and sparkly things.  that's me in my PINK living room in the pic above.  the dining room's next.  teehee.

I also really really like old dresses and corsets and vintage lingerie.  I own alot but sell alot on ebay, too.  I usually dye stuff colors it was never intended to be and add dainty little seed beads and clear sequins and fancy ribbon.

I like tiaras and old skool telephones and old fabric.

I like trash day alot.  mostly because people in savannah are crazy and throw away old victorian couches and stuff.  I like the salvage yard, too.

I married a lovely man, 10 years my senior, lee, and he works at home on the computer all day and somehow is fairly content with my inability to retain a permanent *normal* job and doesn't say too much about it as long as I keep my self entertained with renovating or working on projects to sell on ebay or in my vintage clothing booth at the antique market.
--but seriously, I'm not lazy and spoiled, well, maybe a little spoiled, but I do work quite hard on the house and I bet I can jack up a foundation faster than any guy out there.

oh yes, i adore martha stewart, betsey johnson, all things kitsch, collecting bones from roadkill, coloring and bleaching my hair, throwing parties/barbeques/shindigs, hanging out with my friends and doing nothing, and making STUFF.  Today I made a FABULOUS picture frame out of left over crown moulding from our living room!  and I painted with one of my other favorite things...krylon CHROME spray paint.  It rocks my world and it will rock yours, too.  Go buy some and see what's left in your house 2 days later that isn't *chromed*.

and i love gifties.  prezzies.  surprises.  see my wish list.
